Free Tuition Fees in Universities in Norway

Tuition in Universities in Norway
Generally, students at state universities and university colleges do not pay tuition fees. This is true for all levels, including undergraduate studies, Masters programmes and Ph.D programmes. However, students will have to pay a semester fee of NOK 300-600 each semester. In order to take an exam this fee will have to be paid in full. But the fee also grants you membership in the local student welfare organisation, which in turn entitles you to several benefits. These benefits may include on campus health services, counselling, access to sports facilities and cultural activities.

Most private institutions have tuition fees for all their programmes and courses. But the fees are usually significantly lower than those of comparable studies in most other countries. Also, foreign students don't pay higher tuition fees than Norwegian students.

Completing a university degree is often considered to be an expensive endeavour and tuition fees are usually making up the bulk part of the cost. The majority of Norwegian universities and state university colleges are publicly funded and the Norwegian government considers access to higher education for all to be an important part of the Norwegian society. Thus, as a rule Norwegian state universities and university colleges do not charge tuition fees. This also applies to foreign students, no matter which country you come from. However, you should take into consideration that living expenses in Norway are higher than in many other countries.

"Nothing is for free" is a saying that is true in many cases. But in Norway it is possible to get quality education without having to pay tuition fees. If certain prerequisites are met you could also be eligible for financial support that can pay for your living expenses. Through various fellowship programmes, scholarship schemes or student loans, international students can receive funding for a full degree or a limited number of semesters.

No tuition fees
Payment of the semester fee is also necessary to get an official student card that, among other things, gives you reduced fares on most forms of public transport and lower ticket prices to various cultural events.

Programmes and courses with tuition fees
State universities and university colleges may have tuition fees for a few specialised programmes. Typically these programmes are at the Masters level.

Top 10 Best Job Interview Tips

Job interviews can be a mystery. But you can find success if you follow the right job interview strategies. This post elaborates on the best top 10 tips for your job interview. If you strategically follow these tips you would ace your next interview.

Tip 1: Study the Company
One of the best job interview strategies that most candidates ignore is to research the current events of the company. Knowing what the current events of the company are; is important so that you can ask pertinent questions. Doing so will show the interviewer that you have done your homework, and also have a genuine interest in the company. This strategy will definitely help your job interview and put you ahead of your competitors.

Tip 2: Know your Resume or CV
As a candidate, you should be very familiar with your CV or resume. In any job interview, anything on your CV or resume is at the interviewer's disposal. Implementing this job interview strategy will help build credibility with your interviewer. It is your responsibility to convince the interviewer that you can come in and do the job. Speaking intelligently about each of your previous positions will help do this, and is one of the best job interview tip to follow in order to be ahead of other job applicants.

Tip 3: Prepare an Interview Emergency Kit
Many candidates don't properly prepare for a job interview. Getting together a "job interview kit" is a great job interview plan to follow. Suggested items for the kit include:
·        extra copies of your resume or CV.
·        Original Certificates and copies of each.
·        directions to the office.
·        a bottle of water.
·        Eye drops, pens, and notepad.

But you should only bring the extra copies of your CV into the office with you, preferably in a portfolio.

Tip 4: Study Job Description
After landing an interview, you need to study the job description to truly understand what the interviewer is looking for. If the description calls for attentiveness to detail, you will want to tailor the discussion accordingly. Knowing this, you can navigate the interview and discuss examples from previous jobs that will exemplify this trait. Do this for all significant traits or qualities that you identify in the job description. This is one of the best job interview tips I have used, and know that it can bring you success.

Tip 5: Build Rapport
You know the saying, "There's never a second chance to make a first impression?" That holds very true in the case of job interviews. That is why building rapport is such an important job interview tip. Shake hands, make eye contact, and smile. Put those three (3) together when you first meet your interviewer and it will set a positive tone for the rest of the interview.

Tip 6: Make Eye Contact

Making positive eye contact is one of the best job interview strategies to follow. Eye contact is one of the strongest forms of nonverbal communication. A person's qualities and personality can be detected simply based on eye contact. Making direct eye contact communicates confidence and high self-esteem, two (2) key qualities employers look for in candidates.

Thus, it is very important that you make eye contact when you first meet an interviewer and shake hands. And during the interview, it is necessary to make eye contact, not only when you talk, but also as you listen. Simply using this job interview approach will greatly help your chances of success in an interview.

Tip 7: Body Language
Just as eye contact speaks volumes about you, so does your body language. Proper body language conveys confidence and high self-esteem. During the interview, things like sitting up straight with your chest out and keeping a pleasant demeanour on your face will project confidence. The interviewer will be aware of this, and it will help you stand out in his/her mind.

Tip 8: Display your Skills with Concrete Examples
When it comes to discussing their skills, many candidates make the mistake of "telling" instead of "showing." One of the best job interview approaches is to use concrete examples to demonstrate your skills to the interviewer. For example, if one of your skills is successfully handling multiple tasks at once, providing an example of how you do that will help paint a picture for the interviewer. It also gives the interviewer something to "hold on to" once the interview is over, and this helps him/her to remember you when it comes to decision time.

Tip 9: Be Yourself
A common mistake that many candidates make is not being themselves. Some feel that they need to fit a certain mould and act accordingly. This will only end up hurting both parties in the end when your "true" personality comes out. You will be surprised how easy it is to detect insincerity during an interview. Thus, it is relevant to be professional, but also maintain your true essence. When you do this, your sincerity and genuineness will be picked up by the interviewer. This is one of the best job interview plans to implement, and it will go a long way in determining your success.

Tip 10: Follow Up Quickly
After the job interview, send a thank you note to the interviewer. These days, an email is fine, but traditionally a handwritten card is sent. Whatever method you choose, do it promptly after the interview. The correspondence should be sent the next day after the interview. Many hiring decisions are made quickly these days, so timeliness is very important.

In conclusion, interviews are part of the job search process and therefore, very important when you need that dream job. How to cultivate the Discipline of Courage

Courage requires that you make yourself do what you should do, that you deal with your fears rather than avoiding them.

a)   The biggest obstacle to success in life is fear of failure, expressed in the feeling that, “I can’t! I can’t! I can’t!”

b) Courage is a habit, developed by practising courage whenever it is required. As Emerson said, “Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain.”

c)  Make a habit of confronting your fears rather than avoiding them. When you confront the fear and move toward it, especially if it is another person or people or situation, the fear gets smaller and you become braver.

d) Repeat the words to cancel fear, “I can do it!” over and over, to build up your courage and confidence.

e) Identify one fear in your life and then discipline yourself to deal with it, to confront it, to do whatever it involves, as quickly as you possibly can. The payoff for identifying a fear and confronting it is tremendous, it gives you the courage and confidence to go through your life and deal with every fear-inducing situation.

The discipline of courage is really needed if we are to succeed in our lives and careers.

Do share with us any experiences you have with courage when it came to taking a major decision in your life.

How to develop the discipline of Daily Time Management

Rule: “Every minute spent in planning saves ten minutes in execution.” The more you plan, the better you use your time, and the more you accomplish.

a.  Begin by making a list of everything that you have to do. The best time to write your daily list is the night before so that your subconscious can work on it while you sleep.

b. Organize the list by priority before starting work.

c. Practice the 80/20 rule, which says that 80% of your results come from 20% of your activities. What are they?

d. Use the ABCDE method to set priorities. This is based on considering the consequences of doing or not doing a particular task.

A = Must do - serious consequences for non-completion
B = Should do – mild consequences for non-completion
C = Nice to do – no consequences for non-completion
D = Delegate – everything possible
   E = Eliminate – everything you can to free up more time

e. Organize your list by A-1, A-2, A-3, and so on.

f. Start on your A-1 task first thing in the morning.

g. Discipline yourself to concentrate single-mindedly on your A-1 task until it is 100% complete.

The discipline of good time management spreads to all your other disciplines. It has immediate payoff in improved results, and long term payoff in terms of the quality of your life work, courtesy - Brian Tracy.

Hope you enjoyed the good habit development; do follow this blog for the next discipline.

How to Set Your Career Goals

This article will address goal setting as it specifically relates to career planning. Part of the career planning process involves setting goals. These goals, both long and short term, will be used to develop a Career Action Plan. The career action plan describes steps you will take to reach your goals. In this case the goal is usually a particular career objective. It can be a particular occupation, a rung on the career ladder, or an earnings level.

Goals may be either short or long term. Long term goals can take about three to five years to achieve, while short term goals are reachable in one to three years. Short term goals are often a stop along the way to our long term goals.

We actually set goals regularly when we plan what we want to accomplish that day, that week, or even that month. Those are usually fairly simple goals, i.e. clean the house, finish an assignment, do laundry. You decide what you want to do and then figure out what you need to do to achieve your goal. Then you get into more complicated goals -- your plans for the future.

One way in which we plan for the future is by setting goals. Merriam-Webster OnLine defines a goal as "the end toward which effort is directed."

One of the most important things you will do during the career planning process is set goals. A goal is something you want to achieve; the end to the means, so to speak. In order to achieve a goal, you will need to exert some energy — generally a lot of it.
You should set both long-term and short-term goals:

Long-term goals: these are goals that you should be able to achieve in about three to five years.

Short term goals: these are goals that you should be able to reach in one to three years.

In order for your goals to be achievable, they must meet certain criteria. Your goals must be:

· Conceivable: you must be able to put your goal into words;

· Achievable: you must have the attributes, energy, and time to accomplish your goal;

·  Believable: you must believe you can reach your goal;

· Achievable Within a Certain Time Frame: you must be able to state how long it will take you to reach your goal;

· Clearly Defined: you must know exactly what your goal is;  and

·  Flexible: you must be willing to modify your goal as necessary.

Once you have defined both your long-term and short-term goals, you can go on to develop a career action plan
The career action plan will list all your goals and the steps you must take to reach them. If your goals meet the criteria listed above, you are more likely to be successful in achieving them.

How to Visualise Your Future Career

Did you know that there are four parts of visualization that you can learn and practice to assure that you use this incredible power to its best advantage all the days of your life.

Part 1 - How Often?

The first aspect of visualization is frequency, the number of times that you visualize a particular goal as achieved of yourself performing in an excellent way in a particular event or circumstance. The more frequently you repeat a clear mental picture of your very best performance or result, the more rapidly it will appear as part of your reality.

Part 2 - How Long?
The second element of visualization is the duration of the mental image, the length of time that you can hold the picture in your mind each time you replay it. When you deeply relax, you can often hold a mental picture of yourself performing at your best for several seconds, and even several minutes. The longer you can hold your mental picture, the more deeply it will be impressed into your subconscious mind and the more rapidly it will express itself in your subsequent performance.

Part 3 - How Clearly?
The third element of visualization is vividness. There is a direct relationship between how clearly you can see your desired goal or result in your mind and how quickly it comes into your reality. This element of visualization is what explains the powers of the Law of Attraction and the Law of Correspondence. The vividness of your desire directly determines how quickly it materializes in the world around you. Here is an interesting point. When you set a new goal for yourself, your image or picture of this goal will usually be vague and fuzzy. But the more often you write it, review it, and repeat it mentally, the clearer it becomes for you. Eventually, it will become crystal clear. At that point, the goal will suddenly appear in your world exactly as you imagined it.

Part 4 - How Intensely?
The fourth element of visualization is intensity, the amount of emotion that you attach to your visual image. In reality, this is the most important and powerful part of the visualization process. Sometimes, if your emotion is intense enough and your visual image is clear enough, your goal will immediately come true.

Of course, the elements of frequency, duration, vividness, and intensity can help you or hurt you. Like nature, the power of visualization is neutral. Like a two-edged sword, it can cut in either direction. It can either make you a success or make you a failure. Visualization brings you whatever you vividly and intensely imagine, whether good or bad. (courtesy: Brian Tracy)
